Okay, I've been snowed in since last Wed and am bored, so I looked this up in
TBON. Mike is almost right. On page 41 he shows the four badges -
Alpine 260
Powered by Ford 260
Sunbeam 260
Sunbeam V8
Alpine 260 belongs on B947 series (p13). On page 14 he says that Alpine
scripts were used for foreign markets other than the US due to conflicts over
use of the name Tiger.
My Mk1a has Powered by Ford 260. Doesn't mean anything so far as I can tell.
South African Tigers were labeled B9480001 to B9480073.

There were four different front quarter/trunk lid badges during production,
according to TBON. The "Alpine 260", "Powered by Ford 260", "260" (after the
Chryco. acquisition, the Powered by Ford had to go) and "V8". I'm not sure of
the timing of changes or markets catered to regarding when one started and
the other stopped. I'm not sure if Norm specifically made that clear in his
great book. I guess I'll just have to take a look at it later...I know my
later series MkIA (B382002273) has the "V8" badging. I guess the next step in
this identification game is to pin point when, where and how often the
Pentastar was attached to the passenger's, front quarter!
