on the 3rd i hooked up the flowmaster exhaust, wired the fuel pump, hooked
up a battery, anti freeze ( in hawaii?) and poured three gallons of gas into
the tiger. J.C. (my beer mechanic) and i turned the key. the horn came on
and a little smoke under the hood, besides that nothing happened. i unhooked
the horn and rewired the mallory unilite/pro master coil and resistor (the
smoke). turned the key and nothing. i swapped the wires on the started
solenoid and now she would turn over but know go. the rear float on the zinc
600 DP was stuck. i took it back to the store for a quick swap. on the next
try it back fired setting the carb on fire. i hany t-shirt put it out. so i
was 180 out on the timing. we switched the wires and turned the key. to our
suprise she fired right up!!!!!!!!! it runs great but a little rich right
now. could i have blown the power valve? it will wait if i did. today i
helicoiled the clutch slave and it seemed to be holding pressure just fine
until i blew the piston out of the slave. i had the adjustment all the way
out too. the lakewood scatter shield has a more narrow mounting base then
the standard bellhousing so i think i will have to make a spacer for it. so
far i have one tail light working and a horn that wont stop. i think most of
my problems are due to poor grounds. the alt charge lights goes out when she
starts and the alt seems to be working fine.what pound radiator cap should i
use? i do not have the heater core hooked up and i am using a 160
thermastat. i still need some help on the softop frame alignment. the web
page for softop installation does not address this problem. that is about it
for now.
Thanks
