Jim,
Very interesting story about epoxy. When my friend wanted to paint his 2 year
old
MG-TD (same age and year as mine) I told him about this new coating we were
using
at Rocketdyne. I got some from our vendor in bright red. He had it mixed with
small gold leaf particles and got his car painted. The painter was sure made
when
his gun came out solid with the activated epoxy, as they never saw anything
other
than lacquer or enamel in those days.
The car came out fantastic. What a color, with real gold 'aluminizing'. He got
into a small fender bender and the fender dents did not even crack the paint on
the sharp corners. You could paint it on aluminum foil, crumple it up, and
open
it with no damage to the finish.
Probably illegal now.
