There seems to be a little mis-information on dual points. The reason for having dual points is to allow more time for the coil to become "saturated" electrically...this happens when the points are closed. The spark occurs as the points open and the built up magnetic field collapses. The condenser helps the field to collapse rapidly which creates a strong magnetic field which generates the high voltage in the secondary windings of the coil. Bob Lerch |
