I got my tach back from MoMa today. It looks great. When I sent it off
a couple of weeks ago, I believe it was a S4 Alpine tach. It said "4
CLY Positive Earth" and read to 6K with a dual redline area (part red
and white, the rest solid red). Now it says "8 CLY Negative Earth" and
has a solid redline area that is a dead ringer for the Tiger tach,
except it reads to 6K. The rebuild costs $85.
Now here is the question: On the back is a green wire labeled "Coil (-)
Side". In the same place on the old tach is a loop of white wire that
plugs into the back of the tach. The two white wires disappear into the
wiring bundle that emerges on the right side of the engine compartment.
My best guess is these wires attach to the ballast resistor, then a
white w/ blue stripe wire goes from one end to the coil. The question
is, can I hook into this somehow, or do I jsut run a new wire to the
coil. Pardon the ignorance, but I don't want to burn the thing up by
screwing up the installation.
Thanks in advance for the assistance. I couldn't keep my toy on the
road without the help of this group.
