Gary,

 From they way I understand your description, it will definitely leak.  The 
collar of the male fitting  may seal against the face of the female 
fitting, preventing fluid from leaking there. However, the fluid will leak 
between the brake line and the inside of the male fitting. This class 
of  compression fittings were designed to seal directly, line-to-line, 
flare-to-matching-flare. I think you're going to need some help from the 
LaifMan on this one.
