Years back, mid 70's probably, I remember an article about a similar car
in Motor Trend.  This fellow, who was somehow connected to the custom
car business in the Southern CA area, decided to drop an American V8
into his 230 or 250 or 280 SL.  I don't remember the source of the
engine, but it was quite a performer.  So, I'll bet there's a bunch of
them running around by now.  Dropping a big engine into a slug wasn't
exactly an original idea, after all.
