Pete and the list,
I constructed a hard-top hoist a number of years ago that works quite well,
though it does not look very fancy. Parts totaled less than $25.00; put
together in an afternoon. One day when I have time to scour garage sales
again, I will keep my eyes peeled for a cheep winch. For now though, I am
comfortable with raising and lowering the top with one hand.
Thanks for forwarding the information on though!
Regards,
Allan

Subject: Hard top hoist
Listers,
I received an interesting auto accessories catalog in the mail
yesterday. Although geared towards Mercedes cars, if you're not too
particular there is a great item for owners of hardtops who need help
taking the tops on and off.
They show a hoist for removing and installing hardtops, both manual and
electric plus covers and a storage cart. All are geared towards
Mercedes, but if you don't tell anyone, no one will be the wiser.
I believe their website at www.precisionauto.com will have pictures.
