Folks, Just got back from a trip to Bolder. I took the Gtec-Pro meter along on the trip as I didn't want to leave it in my Tiger at the airport parking lot. Well I got one of those "super powered" Hertz Ford Conture as a rental. Book in the car said 170 HP and weight of around 1400 lb. With 5 wide open blasts on flat ground I got readings of 33 to 39 HP. There was absolutly no consern that I would get pulled over for "drag racing" because the 4-wheel drive trucks were passing me in normal traffic. I had mounted the GTec Pro upside down so that any slop in the mount would cause a higher reading if acceleration moved the unit. No apparent movement at the unbeliveablely slow acceleration of this rental. The altitude was 1 mile and that really lowers the power. James Barrett Tiger II 351C and others |
