Lon,

I can tell you're an incorrigible optimist Lon. There isn't any "easy way"
to replace that stud. The "right way" is to pull the hub. Refer to previous
postings for how to accomplish this. Basically, you need a very hefty hub
puller and be very careful to leave the nut on the axle so as to keep from
killing yourself, or anyone else in the line of fire. In addition to the
"right way", you can also cut a hole in the backing plate. I've never done
this myself, being the originality fanatic that I am (;-)  , but I've seen
this work. Sorry to have to give you the bad news.
