Thanks. A REALLY good point I had not thought of. The "file server" here
is an old 486 with Netware 2.42 loaded (yuck!). That is probably the
culprit! Much obliged!

Are you logging into a network?
If so check to see if you have the correct time zone selected.
The network sends the time in GMT and the laptop will adjust for the time
zone.
