Allan, et Listers,

Only one time can I remember checking the oil with the rack in my car, and
that was incidental to replacing the boot seals. I believe when I did it I
jacked the car up first one side, and then the other, to keep the oil from
running out. If your're only checking oil, then just jack up whichever side
is easiest. I don't see why you would have to fill from both sides since it
all goes the same place. BTW, I have been using straight STP for rack
lubrication since about 1978. (Some kind of authority figure told me that
was what to use.) I don't recommend it for use in the engine, but it seems
to work just fine for the rack.
