How about using RTV for gluing the dash pad? Would give you some
adjustment period unlike contact cement and it should have plenty of
holding power.

Here's another vote for RTV for holding trim in place. I used it for
the Tiger scripts, the badges just below, and one or two of the
SUNBEAM letters on the trunk. These were installed in 1977, and
haven't moved since. I give them a little tug once in a while, just
to be sure, but all seems well.
Some RTV's are better than others for gluing purposes, so read the
labels carefully. At the time I used some Dow Corning stuff I
borrowed from work. Recently I found that the Permatex clear RTV
stuck way too well to some things I didn't want to get it on....
