Joe,
I understand why the Pertronics improves maintainability, but did you also
notice any change in the way the motor runs? Specifically, Jim wants his to
"run a bit smoother, especially during that difficult time between stone
cold and fully warm." Why would replacing only the points have any affect
in this regard? On the other hand, I can suggest from my experience with an
MSD unit that this unit does make the motor run a lot better during warmup,
which might be partly the result of using a bigger spark plug gap which the
hotter MSD can easily handle.
