The plunger can be extracted by applying air pressure at the threaded
hydraulic line fitting. Be VERY careful to keep the plunger/piston pointed
into something safe, since it may release with considerable force and
velocity. Also, keep the air pressure at the minimum necessary to force out
the piston. Holding the open end of the cylinder against something solid
like a wooden bench top will keep the plunger/piston from becoming a lethal
projectile.
