Larry,
Thanks for the 'flowers'. The "optimal" brake is one that
will work even if the hydraulics have lost their fluid, or
have a leak in the line, the handbrake being practically
useless for anything other than parking and "revenuer's"
turns in the South. Oh yes, and getting goosed and having
your knuckles scrapped when winding the window down.
So my recommendation for the last-ditch brakes, derived from
years of testing when I was a much younger and foolhardy
person, is to cut a hole in the floorboard behind the
pedals, and where a good set of Ked's sneakers. Worked on
my bike and scooter.
Guess you'd like my American Racing 8 spoke "Larry Reed",
and original prototype set. Trouble is, they are only 4 1/2
inches wide, and good 13" tires that fit that size are hard
to come by.
