Alicia and I went to the United this week and had a wonderful time. A
special Thank you to Kirk Even, and Bill Dewell for all the work to put
this event together, and to everyone else who worked on this to make it a
very memorable event. Not knowing what to expect, being new members to
TE/AE, we were welcomed with open arms, and made to feel part of the
family. At the concours, we entered our car in the new catagory for
"diamond in the rough". We won a nice plaque. I call it the ugliest car
there, award. Sat., it was off to the drags. Jerry Porsch ran a 10.? at a
121mph in a 1/4 mile. He is such an easy going person that even when his
water pump seized and ended his day, he was still smiling. We sat in the
stands and watched all the fun. Sun. was the autocross, Wally Swift showed
the way around, he is so good, he made it look like a "Sunday drive". Tiger
Tom ran his F-250 Ford pick-up, what a riot, good thing Joanne wasn't there
:-). Alicia and I reset cones all day,so we had a front row seat. Our
brake booster was leaking so we sat this out. All in all, a good time was
had by most. The banquet on Sunday evening was nice, the food was
excellent, and the company was the best.
We met many new people, and I think we made some new friends. We are
looking forward to the next meet, God willing we will be there to enjoy the
fun.
