I looked at my hand brake mechanism and can't determine where this mystery
washer came from. I do have a suggestion though. If you can't fix it or find
a replacement Sunbeam handle, purchase a hand brake handle and boot from a
scrapped Fiero. This handle replaces the original Sunbeam handle mechanism
with very little screw hole modicications (on handle). It works quite well
and looks very good. The real plus with the Fiero handle is that it folds
down flat beside the seat after the brake is applied. No more climbing over
the stick getting in or out.
