I was going to go with the T5 gearbox from an '85+ Mustang. I guess I
should also look for one in a Ranger or Scorpio.

Well, there is still the option of using the Pinto 4 speed
in the 2.8.
The 2.0 and 2.3 bellhousings have the same bolt pattern as
the
2.8 if I'm not mistaken. The difference being where the
starter is
mounted.
The English Ford Capris used the pinto 4 speed gearbox
for some time. Nearly identical design, but with the
internal
shift linkage as opposed to the external type as on the
tiger.
There is still the possibility of using a T5 from a Ranger
2.9,
or a Cologne 5 speed from a 2.9 Merkur Scorpio.
I suggest that you su?scribe to the capri list, where you
will
recieve far superior tech information on the specifics of
the
engine, and transmision.
Bob "Herbeam" Willis and Ramon Spontelli may also be of
invaluble assistance both owning either a Capri V6, or a
Capri in itself.
