Over the weekend there was a question about three point seatbelts for
Tigers. I've installed a set of Kangol belts that came out of a
Mercedes from the late '60's/early '70's. They are NOT inertia reel,
nor do they have retractors. so you do not have to worry about any of
the details of trying to get these mechanisms to work properly. The
buckles have no moving parts. One piece is a large hook, and the
other piece fits into it. They are labeled "Kangol" instead of having
the MB logo. I've liked these belts since I put a set in my German
Capri a bunch of years back. Kangol is an English company, and I have
heard an unverified rumor of a story (see tomorrow's Dilbert desk
calendar) that similar Kangol belts were supplied in some Rootes
products. They look sort of period correct, so that's good enough for
me.
The belt part is standard, and can be replaced by several suppliers.
See Hemmings.
