In a message dated 98-08-16 21:36:18 EDT, you write:

<< Well what you have seen is the first of what is to come, as you might
remember in April or so MB joined with Chrysler, now called Daimler
 Chrysler. >>
(Warning: Superflous Tiger Content)
Actually, the Mercedes/Chrysler marriage will retain a very clear delineation
of the two makes. Don't expect to see a Chrysler platform under a Mercedes
badged car, such as the new mid-size Jaguar/Ford. Also, don't expect to go
into your ChryCo. dealer and buy a Mercedes. The distribution will also be
entirely seperate. What you can expect will be a sharing of engineering
centers and manufacturing technology. So, I don't think a Tiger will be any
more welcome at a Mercedes club meeting (if there is such a thing) than
presently. By the same token, I'm sure the quickest way to really piss off
some guy with an alloy bodied 300SL gullwing would be to show up at the same
meeting with your mid-80's K-car and say, "howdy, cousin".
In other words, a sighting of a Caravan with a Mercedes emblem probably
represents some individual's sense of humor or pretense.
