Dick,
Never would I call 'ol Shel' a liar. He was a snake oil, I mean Snake
peddler .
Would not want to pissssss off the snake charmer.
Someday I may be one of the lucky ones to have my pristine AC air cleaner
signed by Mr. Shelby. Cleaning instructions by Laura E.
I was confused, maybe the first Cobra was an ALLARD conversion?
Or was it that AC Motors took an Alpine and rebodied it to make an ACE 2.6,
then sent it to "ol Shel".
Carroll then "unrebodied" it, (as Garrad was late with the prototype
Alpine) coverted the
ACE 2.6 back to an Alpine, then hacked and banged til it was A
TIGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shelby could go either way:Cobra or Tiger
This explaines why Rootes wanted to do the assembly at Jenson.
For 'ol Shel' figured if they sent him an ALLARD, ALPINE, ACE 2.6 or any
other frame
with a body on it he could turn it into a TIGER or COBRA.
Remember, I just overhear this from some guys near the Shelby tent, at some
historic event,
somewhere, sometime over the last few years. So don't quote me!
Lessons: Alpines can be coverted to almost any classic car and keep you
TIGER
stock and get it TAC'd
Norm,
I used the fat sticky dice and rolled a 12! If there is not a seperate
class for Completely Disassembled Stock Tiger
I must pick up my diceesssss and quit. I'll entertain thoughts of going to
the next TU
if all entries in stock class are TAC'd Tigers.
