If you are considering a fan replacement, bear two things in mind.
1) Do not buy a "Flex" type fan. Even the best are poor.
2) The maximum diameter depends upon how your motor sits in the car.
Non-standard motor mounts, heat shields, or other age/modification
changes that lowered your engine form the stock position are important.
15 inches is about 3/8 (radius) too large, depending upon the rake and
shape of the blades.
3) The "stiffness" of your motor mounts that allow the motor to "twist"
during load is also critical.
4) The biggest controlling factor in diameter is the steering rack, not
the shroud. Measure the distance from the water-pump center to the to
center of the steering rack, subtract about 1/4 inch for
clearance/torque, and trim new fan to this diameter.
5) A "14" inch fan is probably OK, but the best one is the Ford 6 blade
fan that cam with air-conditioned cars. It has a steel hub/mounting, and
aluminum blades. They are difficult to find, but worth the search. I
paid about $75 for one at the Ford agency, but they are not being made
anymore, so stock is rare. A junk yard might have one for near the same
price. The Ford part number is C9DZ-8600-A, and was used on 1966 Bonco 6
and 1970 Mustang 6 with air, among others. You have to cut about 5/16"
off the part of the tip that would pass by the rack, and enlarge center
hole to the 1 inch Tiger size, unless you've changed pumps and fan hubs
to stock 5/8 Ford. If it's a MkI, IA, the "spacing" from rear of pump to
front of hub is 5.16 inches. You can buy a new Edelbrock Aluminum HiPo
pump, for the Mustang HiPo, with that dimension as stock, and not deal
with boring out the fan.
I had mine machined on a vertical mill with a rotating base attachment,
to assure equal removal to maintain balance. If you don't remove exactly
the same amount, from the same place, on each blade you can get a lot of
un-balance vibration.
