Uh yes. The owner still has the letter from the SCCA that approved it for
use in the stock class. Believe it or not. The car ran in stock, with the
modification from approx 1975 till around 1978-79. This was under the
older rules before there was a street prepared class.
I do not have the letter myself, but if I recall, the approval was achieved
by not considering it as a performance enhancement but by considering as a
correction for manufacture defect (safety consideration?). It has been a
few years, but the approval is fact!
