Now that I have your attention, I=92ve run across a few things I though w=
e
car people might be interested in.
First, my car is B9470139 and the aft two holes on both defogger (Ha-Ha)=
vents have tonneau ( or however you spell it) posts in them. I=92m fairl=
y
sure that they are stock. Last time I was stopped by the CHP=92s they to=
ok
one look at them and forgave me my welded on S/N plate).
Second, HOT ROD magazine, August 1997 edition, page 120, middle, top. =
Thermo-Tec (the header wrap people) now make what they call QUIK-WRAP. I=
t
looks to be a header insulating system that doesn=92t wrap like their tap=
e
but consists of 8 pieces (for us real car people) of insulating material
that is 22" by about 7" wide that you snap around your headers. This loo=
ks
like it could be done on the car (yes even ours). Call them at
1-800-274-8437 for the dealer nearest you. Two I checked didn=92t even k=
now
about it yet and when they checked their warehouses they found the kits o=
n
back order.
Third, same rag, page 74 carries a FORD Motorsport ad that touts:
"Put a Ford in your Ford" with the short v-belt water pump M-8501-E351. =
NEW-NEW-NEW
Bullets in the ad say:
"Provides approximately 1.5" of space at the front of the engine allowing=
more radiator to fan clearance without a recessed firewall."
"Fits 289/302/351W"
"Drivers-side radiator hose inlet"
"Meets OEM specs for water flow"
"A V-8 water pump for a V-8 engine"
"NOTE: The above water pump requires a special aluminum pulley kit
M8509-N"
Tech hotline is 810-468-1356
My interpretation is that this is 1.5" additional clearance. The picture=
s
show the hub pressed up snug to the housing and a shorter shaft than the
comparison pump.
OKAY, I=92m ready for flames.
Regards,
Jim
