If I had a motor with only 50 miles on it I would not do anything
to the motor for at least 30,000 miles. Assuming you have the stock
2.88 rear end, if you want the same effective mph/1000 rpm in overdrive
then 2.88/.68= 4.235. If you changed to a 4.235 gear. You would be
crusing 70 mph in overdrive at around 3100 rpm ( depending on your
tire size.). You would have the capability for a lot of acceleration
in first to fourth . If you don't change your rear end then you would be
crusing along at 2100-2200 at 70 mph. With lower gears you could
use a higher power band cam, say around 3500 to 6000 range and
still have a nice driving car. Don't know about the air injection
holes. Why not use the air pump and a cataletic convertor like the
motor was designed for . Cleaner air results and some states require
the controls on the motor to match the motor year.
