Dip stick

The top of my dip stick broke off.  I'm not sure if it is even the
correct stick for a 260.  Before i order one, I'd like to make sure it's
the right one.  My stick is 2 inches from the end to the "full"
mark, and 22.5 inches from the shield to the tip.
I would think that any stick from a 260, 289, 0r 302 would be the same.
My Ford parts guy says "ain't necessarily so."
Any assistance from any of you guys would be appreciated.
