Well I'm still trying to come to terms with my puter
The following is a "scan" of Motoring News.
Tigers are starting to really turn in the results
And its not just Kynaston that's winning! Our own
"Fast lady"-----Jayne Wignall stunned the rallying world last year by winning
outright the Corsican Rally -------
the first outright win in a Rootes Group car since
Rosemary Smith won the TULIP rally in 1965!!!!!!
FOR most of the day the battle for
the lead of the Mid-Wales Historic
Stages was a close contest between
the Porsche 911 of Roger
Powley/Brian Goff and the
Sunbeam Tiger of Paul
Kynaston/Gary Bulley
However over the last few stages,
Kynaston really put the pressure
on and managed to finish the event
with an impressive victory margin
of 33 seconds.
The rally which ran alongside
the Mid-Wales Stages, was a round
of both the Safety Devices Historic
Rally Challenge and the Welsh
Historic Championship.
Crews faced nine stages, starting
in the morning with one stage in
Ceri and then three in Sarnan.
These were repeated during the
afternoon with the addition of a
third run through the last Sarnan
stage, Cwmysgawen.
Kynaston's victory was a very
satisfactory result, especially con-
sidering that his Sunbeam Tiger
had to be rebuilt after a large shunt
on the Rally of Wales.
He and Powley traded places all
day until the final visit to Sarnau,
where the Exeter man pulled out a
sizeable advantage.
Last year's winners, Dave Preece
and Rowand Prentice, held acorn-
fortable third place all day in spite
of suffering a puncture on Ceri 2.
Richard Hudson-Evans's 12th
place was enough to extend his
lead in the Safety Devices
Challenge.
Within the Historic Rally there
was a section for classic cars (1968-
79), and this was dominated by the
Triumph TR7 VS of Charles
Golding/Preston Ayres. A lead of
one minute and twenty seconds at
the halfway mark was extended to
almost three minutes at the end
giving Golding a clear lead in the
Motorsport trophy
Third place was enough for John
Harrison to extend his lead in the
Championship
