I just recently bought a set of AUTOLITES for my TIGER. Please note
that the plug called out in the current AUTOLITE catalog IS 1 step
HOTTER THAN A DIRECT CROSS for the older model BF-42.I understand the
reasoning: the idea being to spec. "hotter" plugs for older cars with
more blow-by, etc.
Years ago in my 289 "K-motor", I used to run BF-32's on the street
for everyday/season, but would switch to BF-22's only when the ambient
temp was 95 deg. & above. One tank of bad gas will screw up all your
settings, anyway.
I was "luckier" than most, I had the above engine in a '66 ECONOLINE
& could "jump on it" while a friend adjusted the distributor under
full acceleration/full load on the freeway on-ramps. Maybe I could
attach one of those little "ride-along" seats like CALTRANS uses so I
could tune the TIGER the same way. Then, teach my wife the fine art of
dynamic timing, and......
Phil
