Were Curta and Halda Related? Wouldn't be a surprise.
I really didn't intend to do any serious rallying with these things.
I thought it might be an interesting challenge to fool around with
some "state of the art" equipment from the same era as the Tiger. The
Tiger isn't for serious commuting, nor is my 1938 Stromberg Carlson
the radio of choice to get the weather each morning, etc.
I've done a few rallies, all in unequipped or "SOP" classes. I'd
rather just have some fun touring around than get into a high stress
computational nightmare.

Stuart,
In the '50's I used two of the Curta products. One was the mechanical
computer, which was shaped like a round pepper mill. You ground a
crank and got numbers, instead of pepper (or coffee). Any $2
calculator will run rings around it, without the grinding.

Good luck in finding one, or both. Better luck in using one. The first
thing you will require is that your own clocks, odometer and speedometer
be calibrated. Good luck with the Smiths/Jaeger.
