***** NOTES from Jay Laifman (JLAIFMAN @ PNM) at 7/2/96 2:17p
Wow. I was just reading the William Carroll book about Tigers. According
to Mr. Carroll, the Ken Miles car was running first, but ordered second,
after the order was placed for Carroll Shelby to build a "260" Alpine for
Rootes. Mr. Carroll owns and is restoring one of the cars. I am a little
confused as to which one though. I don't have Carroll's book here, but I
do have Norman's. According to Norman's book, Bill Carroll of San Marco
owns VIN B9117965 in color 19 (which is white) and Harold Lampson of
Fresno owns B9109464 in color 86 (forest green). He lists the green car
first. These were Series II cars originally. I thought Ken Miles car was
white and the Shelby car was green. I also thought I remembered that
Carroll had the Miles car. But, Norman says in his book that Carroll has
the Shelby car. I guess it could have been a typo. Norman also warns
that someone did try to pass along a "fake" Miles car before, with license
plate number 942 HKS, high fins but Series III front and top. So look out.
Do you have the rest of the info from the ad?
