My Capri expert says that the V6's only problem was with the timing
gears. One of them was fiber and was eaten by the steel one. TRW made a
steel replacement set that fixed the problem.
He also said that the 4 liter is suppose to be based on the same
engine and that Sven Pruett (vanir@gnn.com) wrote the book on Capri V6's
Two guys here on the east coast did engine swaps in their Alpines.
One used a Capri V6 (2600 or 2800) and the other one used a Bobcat 4 cyl
(2300 I think). They said that their performance was almost equal.
