Perhaps, when I get one, i'll put replica LAT70's on it and paint
it Carnival red (w/some code 86 showing through), and tell
everyone it was a rare Rootes option...

I have : the Indiana core, 6-blade (?) Flexilite ss fan (#1314?) two small
holes in the inner skirts to pass air, one of Sunbeam Specialties water
pumps, and I had the heater core rebuilt just to be safe. Last year, the
thing ran hot, usually creeping up to 200 indicated even in my "granny"
driving: slow, no traffic ever.
Then last fall I had a incident where my thermostat collapsed, because
I had it in backwards (confusing markings on the Robertshaw hi flow
unit that Summit sells); I pegged the guage. BTW, no idea whether the
guage is right or not. Then I installed a Stant Superstat, which looks
much more sturdily built than their regular unit. I got a 160 and a 180,
and put in the 160. Seems to run fine.
Yesterday, I went out in about 90-degree ambient temps at the tail end
of rush hour, and got caught in a traffic jam. The guage read 170, normal
reading recently, when I got caught; and I sat there, creeping at about
20 feet-per-minute, for about 8 to ten minutes. The guage only went up
to 185, and dropped promptly down to 170 when I got going again. I
am surprised at how cool the car runs now; mebbe too cool?
