Actually, you've stumbled on the secret technique Joe used to open his stuck 
hood.  With the engine hot, the sudden cooling from the water shrinks the hood 
enough to realign the latch.  Any shock or vibration will then spring it 
open.......

Like that maybe the whole helicopter-dumping-water thing
was actually one of Stu's overheating-Tiger experiments, and
if the chopper pilot hadn't missed, Stu, would've gotten one big 
scuba-diver-shaped louver in his hood?
