Rear View Mirror Refinishing

I'm looking for advice as to how I should go about refinishing my interior
rear view mirror.  I had to remove the glass to be resilvered and in doing
so the "bead" around the edge pretty much fell apart.  The glass is now
adhered to a piece of vinyl which in turn is folded around to the back side
of the mirror assembly and glued down.  I'm not real impressed with this
and am looking for recommendations as far as how I might recreate the 
factory look.
