If I understand the description of Red Rat's failure, it was a steering arm
that let go. Loads on this part would put the fastener in tension,
and thus a grade 8 would be appropriate. The hardware used at the corners of
the A-arm and upper trunion are soft as those components subject the fastener
to shear loads.
