After a weeklong ordeal with glitches, gremlins and weird electrical problems
only Stephen Hawkings could explain, Team Thicko's own Fast Eddie Haskell has
set another Bonneville Land Speed record driving "Bonnie", a 2 liter normally
aspirated Alfa Romeo spider.
After Mike Besic set the record in the G/FMS class, (2L, fuel modified sports)
at 159 mph beating the old record of 153, the car's class was quickly changed
to G/GMS, (2L, gas modified sports). The only change to the car was it's
number and slight tuning of the electronic management computer by Jim Steck.
Craig went out for the qualifying run at 162 and change. A couple of hours
later, he set the new record by going 164 on the backup run. The new record is
163.44 mph, beating the old by 6 mph. To see the entire story / pics, check

The word is, the team will return in October with the turbo motor to try for
217 mph. (Worlds Fastest Alfa Romeo EVER!)
