Wm and Shelden,

Definitely use the long center branch (LCB) over the 3:1. I have talked to
Dave Anton extensively while building the Cooper- S race motor for the
Landar. Dave is the owner of APT. He worked for Visard all the while the
books were written, and did the dyno runs in Visard's books.

There are three sizes of LCB headers from Maniflow (small, medium and large
bore),

Dave says it is important to use the "medium size" on a 948 cc a race
engine, or you will loose power and torque. The medium bore also works best
on 1100 race engines and very strong 1275 street engines up to 110 hp. Do
not use medium bore on an engine under 70 hp. Also be sure the tail pipe is
maximum 1 7/8 inch inside diameter.

The large bore long center branch header is for strong race 1275 cc with 110
hp plus, and 1400 cc strokers. Here also the maximum tail pipe size is 1
7/8 inches if you want to make the best power. This is a case of larger is
worse.
