<< A sad day for those of use who revel in tastelessness. Big Daddy Ed Roth
died last week. Did you feel the ripple in the force? Big Daddy put a lot
of extremely cool fossil fueled way live tricked out metal, bondo, and high
sheen chrome into our
lives. The man had his priorites and, perhaps, was on a mission from God.
See you later, Ed, say hello to Mr. Green Jeans for us. Let us bow our
heads in a moment of silence just before we side step that clutch.

I'll miss you, Ed. >>

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth did a pinstripe job for my Dad in about '76. We had
just moved to Long Beach Cal. and Dad wanted to liven up the looks of his '75
VW Scirocco. "Big Daddy" pulled up in a Honda N600 covered in pinstripes
(maybe he practiced on it!). The N600 is a funky air-cooled, 2-cyl., 600cc
shoebox with 10" wheels a la Mini-Cooper. With all of his fame connected to
blown, monster V-8 creations, driving the Honda showed a sense of humor.
We watched in amazement as he laid on some cool stripes freehand as if it
were as simple as signing your name. The man was gifted.
