One more piece of trivia. I flew in "American Pie" in August or early
September of 1958, just a few months before it was destroyed off the end of
the runway with Holly, et.al.
"American Pie" was purchased by a Mason City Flight Service...The night that
Buddy Holly played at the Surf Ballroom, my classmates came to pick me up (on
a school night) and I declined at the last moment. Regretted it ever since,
but more now. I was more into the big band sound and Jazz at that time.
