One of the fellows who works for me was the 3rd employee at Rupp. He is still
in contact with the gentleman who bought most of the old kart stuff when the
original business changed hands. He tells me the stuff is still here in
Cleveland. I've given him Don's e-mail he may be able put him in touch with a
connection for original parts, etc.

To all,
OK.. I'm a dumb fuck...(like that's news to you...)
It appears that I forgot that the very weekend that I'd planned for the
party at the lake is also the weekend that Crew Chief brother Don (hey...
how come that twirp doesn't have a nickname???) had aplanned to attend a
vintage go-kart event out east.
There is some doubt as to whether the kart event out east is going to
happen... so, what to do, what to do?
Should we leave the date as is and give you just a couple days notice as to
if we can do the party? Or, reschedule? Talk to me...
Don (and I to some degree) have been fooling with karts since childhood.
He's focused on early (as in '59 to say late 60's) race karts. Each one is
getting a meticulous restoration. Parts are hard to come by, and prices are
extremely high these days. His collection includes karts by Evans, Margay,
Rupp, Fox, McCullough, Blackhawk, Excaliber, and probably a few more that
I've forgotten. In case you know of any early kart stuff, you can reach Don
at thickocrew@aol.com.
Any thoughts on whether VSCDA might be interested in an early kart
exhibition? We'd like to bring them up and rope them off for viewing...
maybe at the Fall Festival or IRP... but it would be very cool to put them
on the track at some event... maybe like what we used to do with the vintage
motorcycles at Blackhawk. Any thoughts? Any of you have a karting background
in your early racing career?
