Is a race question still allowed here?

If so, I like to hear opinions (there's a bad word...) and sources for 
Sprite cranks. I'm thinking about building up a second race engine - 
target: reliability and fun.

While I don't feel a need to build a cubic dollar engine to lead the pack, 
I would like it to be rugged. Towards that end, I'm wondering what the 
options are beyond reground & treated 40 year old castings. Billet? Forged?
