Team Thicko members: (Thickoids?, Thicko-heads?, persons of thickness?)
Just thought I would let you know that Team Escargot is planning to
make the
trek to the big summer vintage race at Elkhart Lake this year. This will be
our first trip there as vintage racers. We had been there many times as race
fans when we lived in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. (That's right, cheeseheads from
way back) We have many fond memories of the original Can-AM, the June Sprints
and track food to die for.
This also promises to be the premier event for vintage Honda racing in
North
America. Team Escargot will bring our 1967 Honda S800 coupe and our 1969 NTM
Mk II (Honda-powered D sports racer). In addition, Chris Thompson of Colorado
plans to be there with his 1967 Honda S800 roadster (the only other S800
actively competing in North America). Finally, a good friend of ours has just
completed restoration of another NTM (Mk III) and may also make the trip.
This is as many vintage Honda racers as has ever been gathered at one event in
North America. Should I call Brian Redman and insist on featured marque
status?
I have gathered from previous reports and postings that Team Thicko has
a big
turnout of members and fans at this event. We certainly plan to avail
ourselves of the legendary Team Thicko hospitality while visiting your neck of
the woods.
I know it's still a long time until that event rolls around, but we
have put
it on our calendar and are looking forward to driving a great track and
enjoying a beautiful part of the country that we haven't seen in 25+ years.
I understand WST brings extra cans of 'Whupass' to this event so I'm
working
hard to make my little screamer faster than ever so I might have a chance to
keep up with him.
