Thanks, Rick. This a great one from the master indeed.
When I visited with Frank, along with my three
sons, he insisted that Mark, then about 14, go and drive the A40.
Fair enough; the fact that Mark had never driven before, and had no licence
did not concern Frank in the least. Off you go, he told him.
Now, watching the poor A40 kangaroo away from the house was a sight that
has stayed with me ever since. The effect on me as the car disappeared from
view was severe as I calculated how much holiday cash I had left to set
against the inevitable damage that I should pay for. These thoughts were
going through my mind, as Frank showed my around his cars and workshop.
But, low and behold, Mark arrived back with the car in one piece. I believe
the fact that Tiffany was with him saved the day!
Frank was one heck of a guy. I miss him. RIP.
