Best wishes to all in Irene's path. Those of us in Florida dodged a bullet
on this one.
We moved here from Connecticut 6/1/04 just in time for 3 major hurricanes.
After evacuating for first 2 we stayed for the 3rd. Good thing as 3 of us
spent hours on hands & knees "bailing out" the 9th floor condo. Not fun.
But better than the week in Connecticut without power after our last
hurricane there. I was lucky there as my LBC's didn't get damaged nor did
my boats. A previous hurricane damaged a sailboat I had moored off Nyack
Boat Club in the Hudson River. That too could have been worse as of the 2
bow lines (3/4" with chafing gear) on the boat, 1 was completely chafed
through & the other almost all gone.
Last weekend it appeared that Irene could be heading our way. I put the
Turner & Alfa up on dollies & wheeled them into position so I could get my
SUV into the garage too. Now, all we have to do is give our daughter &
family in CT guidance on hurricane survival.
Good luck all.
