Daniel - its local dialect. Here in the states there are often differences
in the way vowels are pronounced from region to region. Not nearly as bad
as the UK though.... Back in the 60s I remember sitting in a pub in
Rickmansworth just off the A404 and listening to a Scot, a Welshman and a
Cornishman argue. None of them could understand the other two!!
