Oh well, that means it is making the rest of GM look bad, so they will
get the ax any day now.

Vacuum in this case is a pressure measurement in a light gas and it
makes little difference where the takeoff is within the intake
manifold unless volume is an issue. It is not an issue with the gauge
or the dizzy. OTOH, the vacuum takeoff on the front carb is NOT
manifold vacuum, it is "ported" vaccum and a significantly digfferent
signal than manifold vacuum. Do NOT move the vacuum advance elsewhere
unless you install a different vacuum advance module that EXPECTS
manifold vacuum.
