To expand a little more, "posi" in this context is technically an 
abbreviation of "positraction" which is a Chevrolet trademark for the 
clutch-type LSD they developed 40 years or so ago. Like "xerox", it has 
become a generic term. Nonetheless, a welded diff goes WAY beyond an LSD.
