As I mentioned earlier, my starter solenoid decided to take a vacation,
this past weekend. Of course, this is only the preliminary diagnosis.
I get a good "click", when I move the key to the "start" position, but
no significant dimming of the ignition warning light to indicate that
the starter is drawing current. Pushing the little red button on the
solenoid produces no response of any kind.
This happened, intermittently, several years ago until I installed a new
battery. Suddenly, the "starter issue" was only a dim memory. So,
whatever the fault, a good, hot battery seems to overcome it. This time
of year, however, I ain't about to put a new battery in just weeks
before winter storage looms.
So, my question(s) to the group is:
1.) Is the original rebuildable (I haven't even looked at it, yet)?
2.) What's the dif between the NLA unit listed by Moss (but, like I
said, NLA) and the unit listed for the 1500 (my car is a later 1275)?
Off to work, now, so I'll look forward to reading the responses later.
Thanks, guys.
