I believe this echoes my comments about garage door installers missing
fingers....

Subject: [Spridgets] Garage Door
Hey Frank, As much as you might hate to do it, this is one where I'd hire
out. Had a friend who tried to replace a broken spring and it let go and
smacked him in the side of head. Lucky he wasn't killed and his vision still
isn't right 5 + years later. After watching a couple of idiots replace a
spring on my door that broke and watching that wound up torsion spring let
loose with their special tool, a BF Screwdriver used to wind the spring, go
flying across the garage, and fortunately not hitting anything other than
denting some drywall, I'll leave this job to the professionals. I have the
local garage door and table saw mechanic Les Digits on my Speed Dial List.
Statistics say that the garage door spring is absolutely the most hazardous
thing ypou can mess with in your house or garage. Tops by far of anything
else on the dangerous things for homeowners list.
